Consequently, Flagler County, Florida is not only a virtual paradise where many fortunate residents live, but is also the place to have fun at Florida Palm Coast attractions.
Florida Palm Coast Attractions
The Flagler Beach area (including Palm Coast) is a “Water Wonderland” consisting of 19 miles of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. Therefore, there’s so much to do here!
If you want to hang out around the beach and water, you can spend the day with vast views of the ocean, watching surfers ride the waves. Or, maybe you or your kids want to learn to ride the waves. The local surf shops make it easy and provide lessons and equipment.
Discover retro motels, eateries, and shops along this sandy stretch and simply enjoy hanging out!
Go Back in Time to Old Florida
Washington Oaks Garden State Park takes you back in time to a plantation that dates back to the early 1800’s. Located along the “A1A” highway near Palm Coast (the coastal scenic route through Flagler County), it was named by a former owner who was a distant relative of George Washington. Enjoy the formal flower gardens and the acres of sprawling, shady oak trees. All this, and a view of the Matanzas River, as well!
Additionally, if you still feel the need to be on the beach, the ocean side of the park allows you to hike extensive coquina rock formations along the shoreline. Why not forego the restaurants, and bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at either the quiet gardens or the rocky shore?
And, speaking of the Matanzas River, Princess Place Preserve in Palm Coast is a gorgeous 1500-acre preserve that also gives another glimpse of Old Florida. The original Adirondack-style hunting lodge is still intact and is the oldest homestead in Flagler County with the first in-ground swimming pool (fed by an artesian spring).
Here, you can fish the salt marshes along the Matanzas River and Pellicer Creek, or camp out under the stars. Other popular things to do here are bicycling, hiking, birding, canoeing, kayaking, and visiting the interpretive exhibit. Horse enthusiasts love the equestrian campsite and plenty of riding trails.
