Therefore, the United States of America is 241 years old today!
A Synopsis of Florida History
Most of us who attended school here in the States probably know the common facts and significance of July 4th and the Declaration of Independence.
However, if you live in Florida (or are simply curious), you may not know its history. Many people don’t know the details of the groups of people who first came here. So, here are a few fun facts about Florida history!
The “First”
Then, during the last half of the 1800’s (around 100 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed), U.S. troops warred with the Native American population in the area.
During the Civil War, Florida was the third state (of 11 total) to secede from the Union.
In 1845, Florida joined the union as the 27th state.
A few years later, people were more mobile and started vacationing. Where was one of the most popular vacation destinations? You guessed it…Florida! Northerners, especially, would flock here (and still do!) to escape the harsh winters and enjoy the warm sunshine.
Florida Continues Its Popularity Today
As you know, Florida quickly became known as “The Sunshine State.” Read my blog article, “Old Florida Style,” for additional historical info about Florida.
Furthermore, many former vacationers eventually decide that being here only a few weeks a year is not enough! They purchase a primary or secondary home to enjoy what we Floridians get to enjoy full-time, whenever we want.
So, have you been to Florida? Do you want to discuss the possibility of living here soon — or maybe sometime in the future?
Make an appointment with me to discuss owning a home here in The Sunshine State! It could be the beginning of a wonderful new adventure for you, your spouse, and family!
I look forward to hearing from you…
