During these lazy, hazy days of summer, I get a little restless. Maybe switching up my environment a bit with some easy, breezy beach decor is the answer!
Easy Ways to Transform Your Interior
It’s common to want your home decor to have a tropical, coastal touch if you live in Florida (especially if you live on or near the water).
However, even if you don’t live in Florida, add a coastal look to your home environment during the summer months, regardless. Create a beach-y mood, no matter where you live!
“Beach-y” Colors
The colors found in natural tropical and sub-tropical environments – like Florida – are instant mood boosters. But, you don’t have to be outdoors to enjoy their perks. Create your own easy, breezy beach decor inside your home, too!
However, the key is to not overdo it. The colors trending now are lighter, and blend with the natural colors of the ocean and beach. This helps with the feeling of your home blending in perfectly with the surrounding environment.
It also adds a flair of elegance and sophistication, but with a relaxed and comfortable feel. Definitely stress-free — yet stylish!
Soft blues are always welcome in a coastal beach home! Transform a bedroom with a patterned blue comforter set. I found the one pictured here on Wayfair.
White, creams and light green shades are also wonderful additions that give a beach-y feel to your decor. One of the easiest and budget-friendly things to do is to purchase a few throw pillows for your living room couch or your outdoor furniture.
Hayneedle has these adorable, yet classy, ocean-themed pillows that will brighten up your living space and make everyone smile!
“Au Naturel”
The rug, pictured, is from Joss & Main. It gives a hint of an island feel. I like that it is versatile and will “work” with casual as well as more sophisticated decor. So, it will add coastal flair to your elegant living room — but also fits nicely in your kids’ TV/play room!
Finally, the lamp here is from Hayneedle. You can’t get more natural than this clear glass base wrapped with natural rope. Add a linen-look shade, and you’ve just created an easy, breezy coastal interior!
Final Thoughts
One or two easy, inexpensive changes are all you need to transform a room into a coastal getaway! Don’t go overboard (pun intended!). A small change makes for a big transformation.
