How to Choose a Good Realtor

Listen!

Be a good listener. That’s number one in my book for how to choose a good realtor. Of course, there are other things to look for, but being a good listener is key.

Have you ever had conversations – either business or pleasure – where the other person pushed their perspective on you, without acknowledging your viewpoint, or even allowing you to express it?How to Choose a Good Realtor

I am always reminded of the saying, “You have two ears and one mouth so you should listen twice as much as you speak.”

Consequently, this applies 100% when you are ready to discuss buying or selling a home with a realtor. Some realtors have their own agenda.

Perhaps they have a listing that has been on the market a long time and really want to sell it. This is fine, but they should listen to your situation; your needs; and your desires first. I mean, really listen! If that house they want to sell truly doesn’t fit your needs, then it shouldn’t be presented as a potential home for you.

Listening is what I do. It’s my job to find you the best home – based on your needs – not my own. Whether buying or selling a property, my pledge to you is that I will listen and strive to understand you. Therefore,  I can offer my expertise with integrity so that you feel confident I’m looking out for your best interests – and not my own agenda.

Constant Contact

If you want to buy or sell a home, you expect the “play by play” from your realtor. You want to know everything, right down to the smallest detail of a conversation. After all, this is your dream home that you want. Or maybe you’re anxious to sell your current home so you can move on to the next stage in life, such as retirement.

“No news is good news” doesn’t apply in my book! I’ll stay in constant contact with you every step of the way to ensure you know the status of every event and conversation during our time working together.

Whether it’s a new prospect that will be touring your home to potentially buy it; or you put an offer in on a house you love and can’t wait to find out if it was accepted, I’ll be sure to keep you informed.

I Live Here!

It’s definitely beneficial to work with a realtor who lives in the area where you want to buy. Furthermore, a realtor who has lived most or all of her life in the same state or area is even better.

I’m a native Floridian. Florida is in my blood. It’s where I was born and raised. I love Flagler County and I’m so excited to live in the Hammock. I love both living and working here!

Therefore, I have lots of info that other realtors may not have. I know the neighborhoods, the businesses, and the people. I can help you determine the best place for you in Flagler County, based on your circumstances and desires. And if Flagler County isn’t a fit for you, I have the ability to refer you to the right agents in other parts of Florida.

In short, I definitely have an edge over agents who were born and raised “up north,” but have only lived in Florida a relatively short time.

And Finally…

Certifications and awards are also a good thing to check for when deciding how to choose a good realtor. I’m very proud to have been voted Flagler County’s Reader’s Choice best realtor 2016/2017 (News-Tribune). Read more about me and my awards and designations here.

Earlier this year, I teamed up with DHR (Distinguished Homes Realty). This partnership is a strategic alliance that will support, enhance, and strengthen the expansion of the already successful Dana Davis Properties brand. Read the press release about this collaboration here.

I know you’ll appreciate my professionalism and knowledge of real estate here in Flagler County and I look forward to discussing your real estate needs!
